making a difference to Redruth

2012 Awards

Redruth Charity Trust held their annual Community awards night recently.

31 local groups and societies received a share of £6,700.

They enjoyed a pasty supper while being  delightfully entertained by Carharrack and St Day Silver Band.

Successful applicants included  baby and toddler, pre school, brownies and rainbows, 4 bands and the Murdoch day dancers. Victim support, Miners court lunch club, Kerrier 50+ forum, Lanner and Illogan Churches and many other groups.

The money will be used to purchase bowls, craft supplies, cooking equipment, car booster seats and scooters.

The Trustees were delighted to welcome 9 new groups this year among them were Visibility who were able to purchase a 64GB ipad, Illogan church can add a display and information board to their churchyard and Murdoch and Trevithick centre can provide a TV set for the more elderly clients.

Trustee Alan Jewell provided a commentary as M.C. while Trust chairman Chris Hailey presented the cheques.

Mr Hailey said “ what a pleasure it was to make a difference to these groups. The Trust has once again been able to deliver at the heart of the community”.

The clubs all agreed that were it not for the generosity of the Trust many of them would find it almost impossible to function.

The Trust has been running the Community awards since 1993 using funds received in rent from land owned at Drump Road. The Trustees continually strive to increase its profile in the TR15/16 area.

Application forms for next year will be available from 1st June. The secretary, Barbara Hart is happy to speak too anyone wanting further information and can be contacted on email bar@barhart.co.uk or 26 Heanton Tce., Redruth.
